Project Case Study

Stay Data Stay

A Python-based privacy awareness application designed to help travelers remember where they logged into personal accounts and securely log out before leaving their accommodations.

Stay Data Stay Project
The Project

Protecting your digital footprint while traveling.

Stay Data Stay is a Python command-line application created to help travelers keep track of personal accounts they access on shared devices during hotel or vacation stays.

Users enter information about their stay, including their hotel, location, room number, check-in and check-out dates, and the accounts they used. The application then organizes the information and provides reminders so users can remember to log out before leaving.

How It Works

A simple reminder with a security purpose.

Users record the accounts they accessed during their stay, such as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Google, or another service. Stay Data Stay creates a summary containing only the accounts selected by the user.

The application uses check-out information to provide a final-day reminder, with the option for an earlier reminder, helping users remember an easy-to-miss digital privacy step before leaving their accommodations.

What I Learned

Turning an everyday problem into application logic.

Building Stay Data Stay helped me practice translating a real-world privacy concern into a structured application. I worked with user input, conditional logic, loops, validation, date information, account selection, and formatted output to create an experience that guides the user from beginning to end.

The project also strengthened my understanding of designing technology around human behavior. A security solution does not always need to be complicated—the right reminder at the right time can help a user make a safer decision.
